Greetings
in the name of our Resurrected Lord, Jesus!
Much has changed since our newsletter
last month. The 40/40's completed their mission training last
week (the last week of April), and we said goodbye to the 40/40's who
are planting churches in Pucallpa. It was a sad day because
they have been like our kids for the past 9 months, but we're excited
about the work they are doing in Pucallpa. As for our group
of 10 40/40's, we rearranged living space and prepared for their work
this past weekend. On Tuesday Kevin went with Brad, Britaldo and our District
Superintendent to Nauta where they are planting their first
church. There is already a church building in this location
and a pastor's house. We constructed a wall in that
house to form a bedroom for them to live in. It is definitely
one of the more challenging of our locations because they do not have
water or electricity in the house or church. So they are
finding creative ways of living there. Pray for them as they
adjust to this new location and adjust to working together!
They leave on Tuesdays to go to Nauta and return on Sunday
nights. So they will be there during the week and will return
on Mondays. Nauta is a 1.5 hour drive in a taxi from Iquitos.Drew and Victorino are planting a church in Tamshiyacu, which is a 1-2 hour boat ride down the river depending on the size boat you take. They have the same schedule as Brad and Britaldo...out for six days and return for one. They visited this location 2 times a month ago and they already have 20 people who have received Jesus as their savior, have a location to have services, and had their first church service this past Friday. They have begun the discipleship process with these new babies in Christ and are continuing to do evangelism. Please pray for their protection and the work of the Spirit in the lives of the people in Tamshiyacu. |
Katie and Priscila are planting a church in Masusa. This is
one of the locations where we had a children's festival and medical
clinic back in January. One lady said she wanted to open her
home up for a church, so we went with the Spirit's leading in making
this one of the locations where we're planting a church! They
started working a month ago, and God is blessing their work
abundantly. There are around 25 people that they are
beginning discipleship with, and they are having one service per
week. Heather went with them on Friday to their service and
was blessed to see God building His church as He has promised in His
word. Pray for their protection and the work of discipleship
in Masusa. Brittany and Ester are starting a church in an area called 9 de Octubure (9th of October). They had made one contact with a lady there 2 weeks ago and began evangelism calls and started a discipleship course with several women. Two have received Christ as a result in the first few days! Pray for their protection and a place for them to have worship gatherings. Dalila and Juliana (our Peruvian pair) are planting the church in Belen. Dalila had started this work 2 months ago, and they have a good group meeting weekly. Heather went with them and our District Superintendent on Thursday for their service. Belen is a really poor area with lots of thefts and a spirit of darkness. Please pray for their protection and for the Light of God to shine brightly for these people. We are adjusting to our changed roles and the quietness of the church campus during the week. We are busy working on the plans for our Love Extreme 2 project coming at the end of June, and Heather has been homeschooling Anna and Micah everyday as well.
Paul and Kathy, Kevin's parents,
visited for two weeks in the middle of
April, and we had a good time with them. It was very
encouraging for us to see them. They also brought us lots of
treats we're not able to get here in Peru...little comfort foods from
the States! As always, the time passes by too fast.
We worked on some things in the house and did some touring of the area.Thank you so much for all your prayer. It has really meant a lot and helped us so much in the past month. We are so grateful for your continued support. We pray God is stretching you as we participate together for the mission of God! May the Resurrected Jesus be with you, The Simpson Family...Kevin, Heather, Anna, Micah, and Sophia |
